Women make up approximatetly 52% of the world's population. Nevertheless, they are predominantly concentrated at the lowest rungs of the socio-economic ladder in most nations. They have the least education, own less than 23% of the world's property, and constitue approximately 70% of the world's 1.3 billion people living in abject poverty.
